Collector's Spotlight Vol. 24 (@henroc1_12)

Welcome back to Collector Spotlight—a regularly irregular interview with a fellow Mezco collector where we get all up in their articulation, poke and prod at their shelves, and learn more about how they pose, play, and display.
This week, we’re heading to Cranford, New Jersey, to meet Henry, a laid-back creative with a deep love for clean displays, mellow tunes, and toy photography. From customizing Conan to posing Batman '89, Henry’s collection covers everything from street to mythic, always with a thoughtful, dust-free touch.
Let’s take a closer look at six shots from his collection and get to know the man behind the lens. 🧹📸

Q: What’s one of your favorite custom projects you’ve done?
A: Conan the Barbarian. I added custom soft goods to his outfit—it gave him the rugged vibe I was going for.
Q: What’s your go-to soundtrack while photographing or setting up your display?
A: Passing Out Pieces by Mac DeMarco. It’s mellow, a little quirky—exactly the kind of vibe I like when I’m in the zone.

Q: Who was your gateway figure into Mezco collecting?
A: Cyclops! That light-up visor hit me with a wave of childhood nostalgia—it reminded me of the old ToyBiz version I had growing up.
Q: Any figures in your collection that hold a unique backstory?
A: Definitely Cyclops again. It wasn’t just my first Mezco—it got me back into collecting altogether.

Q: What inspires your photography setups the most?
A: I usually just stare at my shelves until something clicks. But movies, comics, and artwork always get the gears turning too.
Q: What part of the process do you enjoy most—posing, setup, editing?
A: World-building. Creating a whole environment around one figure is like solving a puzzle. It’s where everything comes to life.

Q: If your collection could come to life, which figure would stir up the most trouble?
A: Robocop. I imagine something like The Indian in the Cupboard—but with way more rules being enforced.
Q: What toy would you bring to a desert island?
A: Indiana Jones. He’s the ultimate survival buddy—pretty sure he could get us both off that island.

Q: How has your approach to collecting changed over time?
A: I’ve learned to store some of my figures in pencil cases to keep them in top shape. Maintenance and protection are huge for me.
Q: What word describes that moment you add a new figure to your shelf?
A: Thrilled. There’s nothing like cracking open a new box and immediately wanting to pose and shoot.

Q: What’s your favorite One:12 Collective figure right now?
A: Casey Jones. He’s versatile and works well in a ton of different photo setups.
Q: Any advice for new collectors just getting started?
A: Keep your space clean. Dust is the enemy. Your figures deserve better!
