Collector's Spotlight Vol. 25 (@c_pow3rs)

Welcome back to Collector Spotlight—a regularly irregular interview with a fellow Mezco collector where we get all up in their articulation, poke and prod at their shelves, and learn more about how they pose, play, and display.
This week, we’re heading down to Aiken, South Carolina, to meet Christian, a collector who thrives on challenges, kitbashing experiments, and bringing characters to life through photography. Whether he’s suiting up Wolverine in custom spandex, jamming to James Brown, or posing Rumble Society figures as his “adventure buddies,” Christian collects with joy, patience, and plenty of imagination.
Let’s check out six snapshots from his world. 🎨🦸♂️📷

Q: What’s one project that tested your skills the most?
A: My custom brown suit Wolverine. Getting the spandex, boots, and gauntlets to fit was way harder than I expected—arms had to be popped off, wrist pegs replaced, and the hands still need painting. The struggle is part of the fun, though!
Q: If you could hang out with any Rumble Society character, who would it be?
A: Vapor. I think we’d get along really well and share a lot of the same interests.

Q: What would be the soundtrack to your collection?
A: “I Feel Good” by James Brown. It just fits—and he was born only a couple of towns away from me.
Q: How do you pick which figures to shoot?
A: I usually pose what I enjoy, and that often sparks an idea for a scene. I keep going back to Rumble Society figures because they give me the most creative freedom.

Q: What’s been the proudest milestone in your collecting journey so far?
A: Being asked to photograph a character announcement for Mezco. It was both an honor and a little nerve-wracking, but seeing the reactions from the community made it unforgettable.
Q: Which figure would cause the most mischief if it came to life?
A: Gomez. He’s got an outfit for every situation—so he’d be prepared to stir up trouble anywhere.

Q: Desert island time—one figure only. Who’s coming with you?
A: Gomez again. He’s therapeutic to pose and would double as my little adventure buddy.
Q: Has your collecting style shifted over the years?
A: Definitely. I’ve branched into 1/6 scale, but that also forced me to get more focused about what really belongs in my collection.

Q: What toy would your younger self be blown away by?
A: The Crow by Mezco. I loved that movie as a kid, and the figure is so well done with incredible accessories.
Q: If your figures formed a squad, what would the lineup look like?
A: Jason, Freddy, Michael, Art, Ghostface, and Leatherface—together, they’d be The Slashers.

Q: Who inspires you in the toy photography community?
A: Jason B. Michael. His work made me want to try bringing toys to life with a camera.
Q: Do you have a favorite One:12 figure or grail piece?
A: My custom Agent Gomez is my current favorite—it just looks so cool. As for grails, I’m hunting for one of the Dark Knight Returns One:12 figures.
