FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #264 - HOPPING VAMPIRE: JIANGSHI EDITION

When the dead come calling, don’t answer the door. 🐈‍⬛

Inspired by Chinese folklore, the Jiangshi is an undead creature that hops through the night, carrying an ancient curse wherever it goes. With haunting portraits, mystical talismans, and eerie artifacts, the One:12 Collective Hopping Vampire brings this chilling legend to life just in time for Halloween. Jiangshi is available here, but don’t wait until it disappears into the darkness.

Scroll on to see how Jhonatan, Jason, Anthony, & Townshend brought him to life!

Name: Jhonatan (@2actiontoys)
Location: Mexico
Inspiration: My goal was to bring classic Chinese folklore to life through a cinematic, chiaroscuro approach. I built a custom diorama specifically tailored for this figure, featuring props designed to complete the overall atmospheric environment. Using practical fog and dramatic low-key lighting, I wanted to capture the chilling stillness of an ancient site as this supernatural entity awakens.

Name: Jason (@jasonbmichael)
Location: Canada
Inspiration: The undead creatures hopping through the night, out to drain the life-force of anyone in their path.

Name: Anthony (@toymirth)
Location: New Jersey, US
Inspiration: Sometimes I just get an idea in my head and run with it. I like experimenting with different settings and creating a scene around the figure. Sometimes there’s a story behind it, and sometimes I just see something in my head and try to bring it to life.

Name: Townshend (@offtheshelfpictures)
Location: Canada
Inspiration: I love the soft goods and accessories he comes with; the various head sculpts are awesome too! For this shot, I wanted to try to capture the lighting and colours from the Mr Vampire film, while giving a creepy vibe that comes along with the character!
